Richard Jenkins Joins ‘John’

11.10.2008

Richard Jenkins has joined the cast of Dear John, Lasse Hallstrom’s film adaptation of the beloved Nicholas Sparks novel, also starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried.  Ryan Kavanaugh’s Relativity Media began principal photography on project this October in South Carolina.   Jenkins is currently receiving widespread acclaim for his performance in The Visitor and was recently seen in two hit films: the Coen Brothers Burn After Reading and in Adam McKay’s comedy Step Brothers.  Screen Gems will distribute the film domestically.

Dear John tells the story of a young soldier (Tatum) who meets the girl of his dreams (Seyfried) while on military leave.  As the two make plans to start a life together, fate begins to intervene.  Jenkins will play the role of ‘Mr. Tyree,’ Tatum’s father in the romantic drama.  Jenkins is repped by The Gersh Agency.

Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey of Temple Hill Entertainment and Ryan Kavanaugh of Relativity Media are Producers, Tucker Tooley and Jeremiah Samuels are Executive Producers and Jamie Linden (We Are Marshall) is Co-producer and Screenwriter.
